Scammer is back at it. Don't respond.Calls to ONA and other lgbt-supportive churches (as well as other religious and secular groups) have been occurring for years. New ones have been reported. The pattern is generally this: a person, usually male, needs assistance in a crisis and asks for funds to be wired, usually to Western Union or a bank. He may have knowledge of the place he's calling or pretend to be associated with or staff of an lgbt-related effort such as The Coalition or claim to be from the UCC. Be aware of similar calls, do not send money, and report any calls to ONAcoord@UCCcoalition.org. Thank you. October 25, 2005 There is a movement originating from churches in the Southern Conference to organize conservative UCC congregations through a document called the "Lexington Confession." These churches have taken impetus from, among other things, their anti-equality position regarding the General Synod resolution on marriage equality. Some information about their goals can be found on the following sites. Southern Conference Renewal Network |
