Sharing the Good News!

The leadership of the Coalition is proud to be a part of a denomination with such bold outreach to the broader community about our progressive values. We encourage you to join in the UCC "spiral" campaign by posting UCC marketing materials through your website, social networking, and other places today!

Don't forget that there are lots of ways you can spread the Good News of God's love and the UCC's welcome!

The 'Language of God' Spiral Campaign

Check out the new "Language of God" video on YouTube and then join the "coordinated, yet spontaneous launch." The response has already overwhelmed YouTube and garnered significant press coverage!

You can be a part of this virtual spiral dance.  Facebook it, blog it, tweet it, or email it.  You can even show it to people in person and start a conversation about how "God is Still Speaking" in each of your lives! Share it in whatever ways make sense for you personally, but don't forget to update your church communications as well.  The video is available on both YouTube and Vimeo.

Tell the Story of the Coalition

Tell the story of the United Church of Christ Coalition for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Concerns. The Coalition provides support and sanctuary to all our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender sisters and brothers and their families and friends; advocates for their full inclusion in church and society; and brings Christ's affirming message of love and justice for all people.

With help from Adrienne Brockaway's multimedia effort (available on YouTube), it's easy to tell this story—which also highlights the United Church of Christ's efforts to become more welcoming to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.

Share Ripples and Other News from the Coalition

Every month, we release news and developments from the UCC Coalition—and around the world through this email mailing list and our Ripples communications.  You can share that inspiration with others by encouraging them to join the Ripples mailing list for themselves. It's quick and easy.  Forward this email and tell them to visit www.ucccoalition.org/news/subscribe/.

Invite a Friend to National Gathering 2010

There is still plenty of time to register and make plans to join the UCC Coalition in San Diego, CA (July 1417, 2010).  This is a great way for people to learn more about the national scope of the United Church of Christ beyond their local church. For more information, visit www.ucccoalition.org/programs/gathering/.

Take the Next Step and Continue the Story

Continue the story by taking the next step in living out God's extravagant welcome!  The Coalition has begun the process of making the welcome of transgender people mandatory for all congregations that are listed as Open and Affirming.

Whereas the General Synod of the United Church of Christ voted to include transgender people in the full life and ministry of the church in 2003, and the Coalition has encouraged transgender inclusion since 1997, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Open and Affirming resolution and in order to more fully live God’s extravagant welcome, the Coalition expands its criteria for new ONA Statements to include gender identity and gender expression effective at National Gathering, July 14, 2010.

UCC Coaliton Board of Directors

While new ONA congregations will be required to include a welcome to transgender people, beginning this summer, existing ONA congregations are also encouraged to take their welcome to the next level. Tell your own story of learning, stretching, and growing!
