About the ONA Program

ONA is "shorthand" for Open and Affirming, the designation for congregations, campus ministries, and other bodies in the United Church of Christ which make public statements of welcome into their full life and ministry to persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

Open and Affirming: The Basics, provides an overview of the program and is a good place to start, if you are new to the program.

Recent program milestones include...

  • 731 active ONA congregations in the United Church of Christ
  • 30 out of 38 Conferences now have at least one ONA Consultant for their churches
  • Congregations of United Black Christians, The Fellowship, and Pacific-Islander/Asian-American Ministries have ONA Consultants
