About the ONA Program |
To Be Listed as an ONA ChurchSince the General Synod’s adoption of the Open and Affirming (ONA) resolution in 1985, The Coalition has maintained the listings of ONA settings in the UCC. Names of ONA churches are then sent by the ONA office to the national UCC so that they may have “Listed ONA” indicated on their church information on the denomination’s website: www.ucc.org (under “Find a Church”). If your congregation has adopted an ONA statement (welcoming LGBT persons into the full life and ministry of your church), please send the following to our program staff by mail or email.
Other SettingsThe other ONA lists maintained by The Coalition are: ONA New Church Starts: Congregations which have this recognition from their Conference or equivalent body. ONA Campus Ministries: UCC-related campus ministries (i.e., receiving funding from a UCC body) ONA Seminaries/Divinity Schools: In UCC yearbook as “Seminaries of the UCC” or “Historically related" Conferences with ONA resolution: Conference annual meeting has adopted an ONA resolution. ONA-Spirited Youth: UCC youth groups which have engaged in LGBT education and/or advocacy. Congregations in Conversation with the UCC: Newly forming churches or churches from another denomination exploring joining the UCC. If you are interested in more information about any of these or details about listing, please contact The Coalition's program staff. |
