Youth and Young Adults Program

Mission Statement

The Youth and Young Adult Program of The Coalition provides support to youth and young adults around issues of affectional (sexual) orientation and gender identity in a faith-based context. As such, The Coalition also offers workshops to youth in various settings - the UCC's National Youth Event, regional youth events, conferences, camps, etc., and interacts with campuses related to the United Church of Christ and campus ministries on other campuses. We also provide resources for those who work with youth and young adults.

ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) with a special additional module to focus on lgbt youth will be held again in 2007. Contact Timothy Brown at yyacoor@ucccoaltion.org for more information.

In 2003, a group of people in Minneapolis were trained to offer two workshops for youth. Timothy Brown will be doing this again on October 13, this time with folks in Massachusetts. First Congregational Church of Northampton will be the host site. The schedule will include a "train the trainers" piece for Biblical Self-Defense. For more information, view this PDF flyer.
